HM Courts and Tribunals Service

Make a civil claim

Take another member to the County Court if they owe you money or have wronged you, run by HM Courts and Tribunals Service.

  1. You file the claim, setting out what happened and how much you are claiming.
  2. The defendant is told and can file a defence.
  3. HMCTS lists a hearing in front of a judge.
  4. The judge gives judgment, and both sides are told the outcome.

Claims are private: only the two parties, the court and staff can see them.
